Travis McDermott, D.V.M.

Hospital Director
Dr. McDermott's Bio

Dr. Travis McDermott was born in Galveston, Texas, and grew up in a small, rural town called La Grange, Texas. He obtained both his undergraduate and veterinary degrees from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. After receiving his veterinary degree in 2006, Dr. McDermott moved to Las Vegas and has been practicing small animal medicine since that time.

DeJannon Preyer, D.V.M.

Dr. Preyer's Bio

Dr. DeJannon Preyer was born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee. After receiving a bachelor’s degree from The University of Tennessee, he worked in New Jersey as an animal trainer before heading back to veterinary school. Dr. Preyer received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2013 from The University of Tennessee and then decided to join the Durango team in summer 2013.

Shawn Caudle, D.V.M.

Dr. Caudle's Bio

Dr. Shawn Caudle was born in Blytheville, Arkansas, and grew up in Greenwood, Arkansas. Before receiving his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Central Arkansas, he worked as a veterinary assistant at Greenwood Animal Hospital. Dr. Caudle received his doctorate from Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2015. Growing up, he had an extensive love for horses and even owned a few during veterinary school. Currently, Dr. Caudle is the proud owner of a Catahoula Curr named Shadeaux (pronounced “Shadow”). Although his primary passions revolve around neurology, internal medicine, and surgery, he feels compelled to be advanced in all areas of study.

Emily Kleinert, D.V.M.

Dr. Kleinert's Bio

Dr. Emily Kleinert grew up on a small farm in Northeast Georgia. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Georgia with an associate’s degree in musical theatre. Throughout her undergraduate studies, she worked as a veterinary assistant in several veterinary hospitals. Dr. Kleinert went on to receive her doctorate from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 2019. During veterinary school, she worked at the University of Georgia Department of Infectious Disease, researching equine anthelmintics. Although she grew up around a variety of large animals, Dr. Kleinert has always enjoyed working with small animals. While not working, Dr. Kleinert enjoys cooking, painting, and hiking with her doxie boys, Leo & Oscar.

Johnathon Watry, D.V.M.

Veterinarian
Dr. Watry's Bio

Dr. Johnathon Watry was born in Okinawa, Japan, and was raised all over the west coast. After settling in Alaska, Dr. Watry attended the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in zoology. Following his undergraduate studies, Dr. Watry completed an internship at the International Exotic Animal Sanctuary in Texas. He later returned to Hawaii to work as a veterinary assistant in a small animal veterinary hospital. Dr. Watry received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Colorado State University School of Veterinary Medicine. During veterinary school, he worked at the Pre-Clinical Surgical Research Lab at Colorado State University to help advance the field of human medicine through the ethical use of large and small animal models.

Keila Martinez, D.V.M.

Dr. Martinez' Bio

Dr. Keila Martinez was born and raised in Puerto Rico. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in animal science from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez. Dr. Martinez attended Tuskegee University, where she obtained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in May 2020. She has two dogs, a Chihuahua named Mimi Chanel and a Greyhound called Coach Fritz. Dr. Martinez speaks English and Spanish. In her free time, she enjoys hobbies like knitting, crocheting, and cooking.

Cameron Adler, D.V.M.

Dr. Adler's Bio
Dr. Cameron Adler was born in Boynton Beach, Florida. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of West Florida in the city of Pensacola. While obtaining his undergraduate degree, he worked as a veterinary assistant at East Hill Animal Hospital. Dr. Adler received his doctorate in May 2021, where he attended and completed his pre-clinical studies out of the country at Ross University in St. Kitts. He completed his clinical year at Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine in Baton Rouge. Dr. Adler has an 8-year-old seal point Siamese cat named Smokey and in his free time enjoys creative outlets such as drawing pet portraits.

Samantha Higa, D.V.M.

Dr. Higa's Bio

Dr. Samantha Higa was born and raised in Fresno, California. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California Riverside and attended California State University Northridge towards a second Bachelor of Science degree. During and after her undergraduate studies, she worked as a veterinary receptionist and assistant in southern and northern California. She also volunteered at animal shelters and an international bird rescue organization. Dr. Higa received her doctorate from Ross University and completed her clinical year at Oregon State University. She has two shelter rescue dogs, Burt and Gus.

Adam Borsheim, D.V.M.

Veterinarian

Dr. Borsheim's Bio

Dr. Adam Borsheim was born and raised in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. He completed his Bachelor of Science degree at Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas. Throughout the summers of undergrad and veterinary school he would return to Idaho, working as a vet assistant at Prairie Animal Hospital. Dr. Borsheim received his doctorate from St. George’s University in Grenada and attended the University of Florida for his clinical year. Within veterinary medicine his areas of special interest are surgery, internal medicine, exotics, ultrasonography, and neurology.   

His time away from the hospital is spent traveling, scuba diving, hiking, camping and other outdoor adventures with his Siberian husky, Kodiak. He also has two cats he brought home from shelter med rotations at Florida: Simba and Mojo, a three legged cat.
