Travis McDermott, D.V.M.
Dr. McDermott's Bio
Dr. Travis McDermott was born in Galveston, Texas, and grew up in a small, rural town called La Grange, Texas. He obtained both his undergraduate and veterinary degrees from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. After receiving his veterinary degree in 2006, Dr. McDermott moved to Las Vegas and has been practicing small animal medicine since that time.

DeJannon Preyer, D.V.M.
Dr. Preyer's Bio
Dr. DeJannon Preyer was born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee. After receiving a bachelor’s degree from The University of Tennessee, he worked in New Jersey as an animal trainer before heading back to veterinary school. Dr. Preyer received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2013 from The University of Tennessee and then decided to join the Durango team in summer 2013.

Keila Martinez, D.V.M.
Dr. Martinez' Bio
Dr. Keila Martinez was born and raised in Puerto Rico. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in animal science from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez. Dr. Martinez attended Tuskegee University, where she obtained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in May 2020. She has two dogs, a Chihuahua named Mimi Chanel and a Greyhound called Coach Fritz. Dr. Martinez speaks English and Spanish. In her free time, she enjoys hobbies like knitting, crocheting, and cooking.

Samantha Higa, D.V.M.
Veterinarian
Dr. Higa's Bio
Dr. Samantha Higa was born and raised in Fresno, California. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California Riverside and attended California State University Northridge towards a second Bachelor of Science degree. During and after her undergraduate studies, she worked as a veterinary receptionist and assistant in southern and northern California. She also volunteered at animal shelters and an international bird rescue organization. Dr. Higa received her doctorate from Ross University and completed her clinical year at Oregon State University. She has two shelter rescue dogs, Burt and Gus.

Adam Borsheim, D.V.M.

Dr. Borsheim's Bio
Dr. Adam Borsheim was born and raised in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. He completed his Bachelor of Science degree at Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas. Throughout the summers of undergrad and veterinary school he would return to Idaho, working as a vet assistant at Prairie Animal Hospital. Dr. Borsheim received his doctorate from St. George’s University in Grenada and attended the University of Florida for his clinical year. Within veterinary medicine his areas of special interest are surgery, internal medicine, exotics, ultrasonography, and neurology.
His time away from the hospital is spent traveling, scuba diving, hiking, camping and other outdoor adventures with his Siberian husky, Kodiak. He also has two cats he brought home from shelter med rotations at Florida: Simba and Mojo, a three legged cat.

Kyra Campbell, D.V.M.

Dr. Campbell's Bio
Dr. Kyra Campbell spent most of her childhood just outside of Dallas, Texas. She always knew that she wanted to work with animals and had the opportunity to take multiple veterinary technical classes while in high school. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science with a concentration in Pre-Veterinary Medicine and a minor in Equine Science at the University of Arkansas. During her undergraduate years, she worked as a veterinary assistant at a local clinic for 5 years and fell in love with general practice. She then went on to attend the University of Missouri where she received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. Outside of work, Dr. Cambell enjoys spending time with friends and family, trying out new cuisines, painting, and taking care of her many, mny plants! She also spends plenty of time with her two rescue dogs, Dobson and Castiel, that have stolen her heart. During school, Dr. Cambell had a special appreciation for avian medicine and participated in the Raptor Rehabilitation Project treating a variety of birds of prey, rehabilitating them until they were ready to release back into the wild. Her other interests include clinical pathology, internal medicine, diagnostic imaging, and dermatology.
