We have a plan for your aging pet.
At seven years old, cats and dogs are considered seniors. The needs of dogs and cats change as they grow older.
Customized plans for senior pets
Some pets are considered “seniors” at around seven years of age, and just like humans, they will face a whole new set of health issues. Exercise habits, nutritional needs, and many aspects of your pet’s daily routine can change as your pet gets older. That’s why our staff highly recommends coming in for regular wellness visits to make sure we catch any serious medical conditions before the problem becomes too severe.
Fortunately, pets are living longer than ever, thanks to advances in veterinary medicine. By working with our team of highly skilled doctors, you can be an ally in your senior pet’s health care and make sure they are happy throughout their “golden years.”
What we’ll focus on
As our pets age, their health needs change. Blood work should continue to be checked once a year, and regular teeth cleanings should continue. Your veterinarian will watch for changes in behaviors you are seeing at home and be mindful of possible disease processes. We’ll look for things like cataracts, dental disease, weight gain, and mobility issues. It’s also essential to maintain a proper schedule for vaccinations and parasite prevention.
We’re here for all stages of your pet’s life.
